I’ve always believed that words and imagery were meant to go together. If a photo is really worth a thousand words, why not speak them?
So here’s the thing… I used to blog back in the day, and then everyone told me blogging was dead. I felt like I bought into that narrative and decided it was pointless to put my work out there in that way. I focused my heart and soul into Instagram, built a decent following, and then was hacked in 2020. I so wish I had another space where those images lived and breathed.
As I was debating making this one… I mean, do I really need one more thing on my plate as a photographer and mom of a 14-month-old… I decided I wanted that space where people could see more of the full vision, the bigger picture, and hear about the heart and soul that went into these sessions, weddings, styled shoots, and more.
I also wanted a space for education to live. I used to be a public school teacher, and there is just something about helping others figure out their craft and life that I cannot stay away from. Teaching is in my soul, and my soul needed a space dedicated to helping others.
So why blog? Why not YouTube or TikTok or literally anything else…
Well, that may come in time… and those can cohabitate here.
But for now, I feel this sense of wonder and nostalgia sitting at a table, typing out these words by hand, breathing and living in this moment while reflecting on others.
This isn’t meant to be perfect; it’s meant to be beautiful.
I’m excited to have you join me on this journey, the one where I feel like I can truly be myself writing. I was an English teacher, after all. Here’s to the past, present, and future endeavors that make life so worth living. I am so glad you’re here with me, friend.
Joyfully,
Jenny Garrett
P.S. If you were wondering why I chose the word luminous… I’ll be writing all about that really soon. Stay tuned.
